What are recreational vehicles?
A recreational vehicle, often abbreviated as RV, is a motor vehicle or trailer which includes living quarters designed for accommodation. Types of RVs include motorhomes, campervans, travel trailers, camper trailers fifth-wheel trailers, popup campers and truck campers.
Recreational vehicle insurance is designed to cover a wide range of vehicles such as those listed above. It includes coverage that is similar to auto insurance, but also has specialty coverage terms that are tailored to the RV lifestyle.
Recreational Vehicle insurance coverages
RV insurance has several of the same coverage items as auto insurance along with a few specialized insurance coverages just for RVs.
Bodily injury and property damage liability - If you injure someone in a crash for which are legally responsible, bodily injury this coverage pays for the injuries (including death) and the cost of legal defense, if needed. If you damage someone else's property due to a crash for which you are legally responsible, property damage liability pays to repair the damage.
Medical Payments - This coverage pays for medical, hospital, or funeral expenses for you and others injured or killed while riding in your vehicle, regardless of fault. It covers you and family members if struck by a car as a pedestrian or if riding in another car..
Uninsured/Underinsured Motorists - This coverage pays for injuries to you or your passengers when hit by someone who does not have liability insured (uninsured) or when hit by someone who does not have enough (underinsured) auto insurance to pay for your injuries.
Comprehensive Coverage - Pays for damages to your car due to glass breakage, contact with an animal, theft, fire, explosion, falling objects, vandalism, flood and earthquake.
Collision Coverage - Pays for damages to your car due to overturn or upset or collision with anything other than animal.
- Personal Effects - Contents within your RV or within a certain outside of the RV
- Vacation Liability - Pays up to specified limits for bodily injury and property damage for which the insured is legally responsible as a result of an accident that occurs while the RV is used as a temporary vacation residence.
- Roadside assistance - Provides towing to the nearest qualified repair facility and necessary labor at the time and place of breakdown.
- Storage option - This gives you the option to temporarily suspend the RV coverage if the RV is not going to be traveling for a while. Coverage does remain in effect for theft and fire, however. This is a great option for people who only utilize their RVs during vacations and trips.

We offer recreational vehicle insurance from a few major insurance companies such as Allstate and Progressive. You don't want to use your personal auto policy to cover your recreational vehicle. You need a separate policy for those recreational vehicles.
